چکیده

Coalminers' pneumoconiosis may be complicated by the development of progressive massive fibrosis (PMF) or by rheumatoid pneumoconiosis (Caplan's syndrome).'2 The arthritis in Caplan's syndrome may precede, coincide with, or follow the development of pulmonary radiological shadows. These conditions are common in miners and may be seen in workmen exposed to dusts other than coal.' The Fujian Shaowu colliery was built in 1958. With improvements in mining technique the density of coalmine dust in the air at the workface decreased. The silicon component ofcoalmine dust was found to be 6-72%. After the improvements the average density of coalmine dust in the air was 10 mg/m', which is low. Patients with pneumoconiosis were still found and the cases deteriorated. We think the presence of the rheumatoid factor may have been a promoting factor. We have studied these patients.

Exposure to respirable coalmine dust and incidence of progressive massive fibrosis.

Data gathered since 1953 concerning more than 30,000 coalminers while employed at 24 collieries in England, Scotland, and Wales have been used to study the incidence of progressive massive fibrosis (PMF) in working coalminers. Results refer to 52,264 approximately five year intervals when the miners were at risk of an attack of PMF. One objective of the present study was to describe how the fiv...

Rheumatoid pneumoconiosis: a study in colliery populations in the East Midlands coalfield.

The routine chest radiographs of more than 21,000 miners from 23 unselected collieries in the East Midlands have been used for a study of rheumatoid pneumoconiosis and progressive massive fibrosis (P.M.F.). A broadened radiological concept of rheumatoid pneumoconiosis was used in diagnosis. The prevalence of simple pneumoconiosis categories 1, 2, and 3 was 5-5%, and of P.M.F. 059%. There were 5...

Some aspects of chronic respiratory diseases in coalminers in New South Wales, Australia.

SYNOPSIS Pneumoconlosls of coalminers appears to be a conglomerate of fibrosis, emphysema, bronchial obstruction and simple clogging of the lung tissues and air spaces with dust. The prevalence of pneumoconiosis and of chronic obstructive bronchitis and emphysema amongst New South Wales coalminers is considered. Schemes for diagnosis and assessment of severity are presented, along with some res...

Solid Sirolimus Self-microemulsifying Drug Delivery System: Development and Evaluation of Tablets with Sustained Release Property

The clinical application of sirolimus (SRL) as an immunosuppressive agent is largely hampered by its narrow therapeutic range. This study focused on developing SRL tablets with a sustained release profile for better safety. SRL was highly water insoluble and its solubility has been efficiently enhanced by preparing self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS). The SRL-SMEDDS was physical...
